Getting started

How to write Sargam notation online

Follow the complete editor workflow, from choosing a taal and entering swar to saving and sharing the finished notation.

The Sargam editor workflow

  1. Choose a taal. The editor creates the correct number of matras and vibhags for each notation line.
  2. Select a saptak and enter swar. Use the piano, computer keyboard, or a connected MIDI keyboard.
  3. Add notation detail. Write chhand, kan, meend, ghaseet, murki, krintan, sustain marks, and lyrics.
  4. Use the metronome and Taal Sync. Follow the running beat and place live input into the taal grid.
  5. Review and share. Preview the notation, save it to your account, export it, or create a public link.
